Tiered Factions

On Rage Roleplay we will be straying away from the idea of having official factions in favor of trying something that is new to many of us: tiered factions. This system which is maintained by Faction Management is used as a way to reward factions and groups of all types for being role models to our server. Factions that create quality roleplay for the server and has a long-term activity will stand out from the rest and get noticed. Please note that Faction Management does not favor factions with staff members in it and everyone, legal and illegal, have the same chance to stand out on the server. This is intended to not only help out illegal factions but also many types of legal/civilian roleplay too that previously haven't gotten much attention. If you got the follow through to make your ideas a reality we're happy to give you the support you need!

The tiered system is a lot like the official faction system except it works in steps or 'tiers'. When a faction gets promoted or demoted in tiers they will be receiving/losing tools that can help them out in providing roleplay on the server. These items include but are not limited to: guns, drugs, faction properties, special requests, mapping, discounts on bulk purchases for companies, and more! In order to receive a specific tier, your faction must have a certain relevance to the tier. For example, if your faction has been roleplaying as a gang in Davis for quite awhile you may be awarded with a drug tier.

Tiered faction leaders will get access to a faction management menu system in the game which will let them order some of these roleplay tools with timed cooldowns. Other ones that are by request will be handled through coordination with FM. They will through that system control everything OOC that comes with being a faction leader such as activity checks, keys to properties and much more.

Please discuss and ask questions about our faction system in this topic.

Can you elaborate? For example, what are Tier 1 criteria and benefits? This is a very high-level description.

It's innovating, it's new, it's fresh. This is great.

On the San Andreas Multiplayer platform, I've seen so many factions built to focus entirely on achieving the official status. Some of those factions actually had a lot of quality but as somehow they weren't official when expected, their members ended up demotivated. Eventually, these promising projects would die out.

That tier system is totally compatible with faction and character development, as it makes sense to reward them according to their current development. It's also way more dynamic and lets people focus on developing their faction and character, instead of rushing things for an "official" status.

What else is there to say? I'm all for it.

There isn't much to discuss from my side. I'm all for it.

Will there be the ability to get more than one thing? Say your gang RPs both guns and drugs. Could you get a smaller amount of both?
Would be nice to see this implemented though so at least even if you're a low tier you're not left in the dirt as the Official scheme would have it.
I do like the fact that there will be an in game command system for leaders that allow you to not have to wait days or weeks for an admin to give you certain things, halting RP.

I would like to know more about the specific tiers as well. Also, when it comes to FM managing the factions I assume once you hit a specific tier you would have to deal with an admin handler of sorts. Only Issue I have with that is, alot of times getting ahold of one specific person to get a request completed can be difficult if you are on opposite timezones.

It's subjective and depending on your faction. You could as a legal faction request a smaller office as tier 1.

The criteria that much be reached is a long-term activity of at least two months, creating quality roleplay for the server, following all rules and just being a general role model to our server.

Yes, you could get both guns and drugs. But you should also be dependent on other factions and build relationships with them.

I'm still missing some information.
  • How many tiers are there?
  • How do you get demoted from a tier?
  • Are promotions and demotions an in character or out of character measure of wealth/power/influence? Why?
  • Are the benefits the same for everyone? For example, will two Tier 1 drug factions both get the same amount of drugs?

If your faction focuses on drugs and all of a sudden, you switch to guns when you get a chance for a tier, it won't happen. Same thing vice versa. As for a faction getting both, I think FM will decide on that verdict depending on how your faction is being run. We were thinking of a 90/10 or 80/10. A drug faction will get 80% drugs and a small 20% of guns in the tier package and vice versa if you're doing guns. It's still a work in progress and perfecting this unique system won't happen over night!
